Book of the Week #12 – The Miracle Morning

Introduction

I first found Hal Elrod and The Miracle Morning on YouTube a few months ago and was immediately captivated by Hal’s enthusiasm for spreading the message that getting up before you have to and doing activities to improve yourself BEFORE you start your day is the best way to build your success.

Notes

Like I said in the Intro, I came across Hal & The Miracle Morning online months ago. I watched videos, I listened to the podcast, I even joined the Facebook group. All while waiting for the book, the thing that would actually explain it all/give me the inside track to become available at the Library.

In the meantime, I had tried doing the S.A.V.E.R.S. (Silence, Affirmations, Visualisation, Exercise, Reading, Scribing) early in the mornings. I succeeded for about a week and then only every so often until now.

The book reminded me, through the success stories it lists and through prompting the reader to ask themselves why they want to improve/what they want to success, of the importance of setting aside time to work on those goals before the busy-ness of the day takes over.

Also, Hal says in the book that it takes 30 days to form a new habit – the first 10 days days are the “unbearable” part, the next 10 days are “uncomfortable” and in the final 10 days you’re “unstoppable”.

The clock has just turned 6am as I’m writing this, so that’s my Scribing done for today. Time to move on to the next item.

Conclusion

There isn’t a lot extra in the book that you won’t find online – it just brings it all together in one place. It might also be good as a refresher after a few months, like it was for me.

Next week’s book

In case you want to read along with me, here’s what I’m planning to read during the upcoming week: Getting Things Done – the art of stress-free productivity by David Allen
