Introduction
I’ve started to try to actively learn from books rather than just read them. I’m posting my book summaries online to keep myself accountable to my “book a week” goal and hopefully to encourage others to read more too.
This Week’s Book Title [Week 37] : Ready Player One
by by Ernest Cline
Format
Paperback. 372 pages.
First impressions
The font size is quite small, but not uncomfortably so. The thickness of the book seems to indicate that there’s a good bit of story to be told (I like longer books, so that you’re not just getting in to the story and all of a sudden it’s over).
Notes
This book has it all. Tech-nerd stuff, video-game-nerd stuff, bad guys to be defeated, a will-they/won’t-they romance and a warning about how easily the world described in this book could happen today.
I read it over the course of a weekend because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
Conclusion
I highly recommend this book.
Next week’s book
In case you want to read along with me, here’s what I’m planning to read during the upcoming week (and probably the week after too): Hadoop: The Definitive Guide, 4th Edition (Data Science).
P.S. I’m back to college this week to finish off the last semester of a HDip in Data Science & Analytics, so I’ll be reading mostly technical books for the next 12 weeks. I say “mostly” because that “What to read next” podcast I started listening to keeps recommending great books and I enthusiastically reserved a few from the Library straight away. It’d be rude not to read them ;).
