Podcasts I listen to

I’ve just come across a podcast that I love and thought that it’s about time that I write up the list of podcasts I listen to regularly. Maybe you’ll see one that interests you or maybe you’re subscribed to one that you think that I’d like.

Books

What should I read next? I’ve just come across this podcast (Sept 2017) and am loving Ep 92. My list of books to read had started drying up and now it’s overflowing again.

Data Science

O’Reilly Data Show. This is a fairly new addition to my list because I started a Data Science & Analytics night course last year. Now I can actually understand most of the words said on this podcast [it’s serious big-data-nerd type language] and go look up the topics they talk about and understand (sometimes, at least) why what they’re discussing is such a big deal.

Data Security

Security Now! A computer/internet security podcast hosted by Steve Gibson and Leo Laporte for the past 12 years now. Steve rounds up all the exploits and security-related news from the past week into a ~2 hour show. It’s recorded on Tuesday nights my time so it’s ready to listen to on Wednesday mornings (usually when I’ve just finished This Week in Tech).

Fun!

Story Club. Short snippets/funny stories from Aussie comics recorded at the Sydney Opera House. NSFW. Great for when you have a few minutes to kill and need a pick-me-up.

Graham Norton. The edited recording of Graham Norton’s Saturday morning BBC Radio show. Interviews with actors/musicians/writers, problem letters + chats with his co-host. Great listening while pottering around the house on Saturdays doing jobs.

Storynory. A kids stories podcast. Handy for the odd time that I have smallies in the car with me for a while.

Self Development/Productivity

Achieve Your Goals with Hal Elrod. Not too sure about this one. I’ve listened to a few episodes and I can’t quite put my finger on what it is that I’m not liking about it. It might drop off the list soon.

Beyond the To Do List. I really like this one. The host interviews different people each episode so you get to hear a bit about a wide range of topics that you can look up elsewhere afterwards.

This is Your Life with Michael Hyatt. A podcast on how to be a better leader. The recordings stopped at the end of 2016 but they’re still packed full of useful info. Michael has since moved on to doing a 1:1 interview-style show on YouTube.

Tech News

This Week in Tech (TWIT). Recorded on Sunday nights my time so ready to listen to on Monday mornings to get a round-up of what happened tech-wise last week.

That’s it for now! Those are the podcasts that I listed to Mon-Fri when I’m getting ready for work, driving to & from work or any time I have to wait around for an appointment or something. The “fun” ones get a look in at the weekends.

Of course, there are other podcasts where I might listen to an episode or a couple of episodes to decide whether I like it or not. If any of them become regulars, I’ll be sure to update this page.

I think this is why I can’t get in to “reading” audio-books…I have too much listening to do already!
